Re: Washout of Camp Pride Road to the Ropes Course
As to a discussion on the need to repair the Camp Pride road to the Ropes Course, which was washed out by the spring floods, I talked to Roger Gilbert and Dick Elliott. The contractor who was to submit an estimate on the job never got back to Roger or Dick with said estimate in well over a month. I asked them if they wanted me to contact a contractor for an estimate. This was on Saturday, June 17th. On Tuesday, June 20th, Joe Balboni, owner of AllEarth in Wolfeboro, came with me to Camp Pride to see the area of the damage caused by the water, which had closed the road. By Friday, June 23rd, Joe submitted his estimate. I consulted with Roger to tell him Joe could begin the work on Tuesday, June 27th. Roger said to go for it. It had to be done to allow Camp Pride’s pickup truck to reach the Ropes Course in an emergency. I also relayed all this to Dick Elliott.
Joe started bringing in materials on Tuesday, June 27th. He prepared a rock bed and installed a 30-foot culvert across the washed-out road and was able to finish the grading by bringing in a load of gravel and grooming the area by Friday, June 30th,   before the first camping group arrived at 4:00pm. No construction can be ongoing when camp is in session.
